Alrighty now, i'm one of the lucky few who got Honors English next semster and we had a summer assignment. Well being the slacker that I am, I just wanted to know if we had any of the Summer Homework Reading Assignment? I sorta lost mine in the piles of papers i have. I might have accidently thrown it out, if the Library has any left... I love you. It would be very helpful for me since i plan on doing the assignment during the winter break.
And also, who's doing the Honors US History assignment? I heard from some people that the teachers arn't gonna grade it. Is that true? Cause that would be a waste of my time to do it, and not get gradded, if you catch my drift. And that book is so borring. I fell asleep on the second page!!! Post here on how you hate Summer Homework Reading Assignments.

I do believe it is going to get graded--I can't imagine anyone on our faculty assigning work they won't grade. My advice--I have given you the assignment sheets, so, go forth, and read!
At least you don't have to read overthrow, which is going to be AWFUL!
Amber m--change your approach to reading Overthrow. While it may not be riveting, certainly, it has something in it that will gain you knowledge. That is important in life--the acquisition of knowledge. While the subject may not interest you now, when you are a voter, you need a broad perspective of what has gone on in our country's recent past so that you can make informed voting decisions. While you are reading the book over vacation, think of any instances on the news that may connect with the chapter you are reading. Reading difficult material (and yes, sometimes even "boring" material) that is factually based, helps you become an even more interesting and intelligent person. One day, you may be at a gallery opening, or a reception, with college professors, or other like intelligent types, and there you will be, spouting some fact you picked up from the book! You will thank us all! This is why I listen to NPR every chance I get, so that I can be a more interesting and intelligent person, and can conduct lively conversations with others at such fru-fru events. So, attack these assignments with vim and vigor, and reward yourself when you finish with some absolutely delightful novel or mystery that may have no obvious literary value!
i know i need to take it better. I really have been trying to. I'm on the second page of the first chapter (i just read the introduction) and i'm trying to stay entertained...i don't know. I just have always felt that someone should put non-fiction in a fictional format so that it's easier for someone like me to get through...But I'm trying to do it! I mean, it does feel pretty good when I get to talk about something i learned from Lies My Teacher Told Me with my dad. :D
Thanks for the Sheet Library Goddess. Yeah, i've been reading the book through out the months i've been borrowing it. Its good, the one i'm reading is Walking Across Egypt. The book seems to set at the same place at my Great Grandma's house. So i like the book, i just don't want to do the work. I'm lazy :3
I absolutely LOVE Walking Across Egypt! I swear it was written about my family! I love when they are in the funeral home, and she spills her tobacco juice in the coffin! It is a classic Southern tale!
Boy do i feel bad for the person who gets stuck with that coffin X3
