I will answer this once we return to school--I will check the catalog. I am drawing a blank right now--when I am not at work, my work-related brain just shuts off!
I have not read "Silver Kiss", but "Pandora" and "Vittorio" by Ann Rice are pretty realistic and historical. I have read those two and I liked them. Some other titles to look at in the High School Library are "Blood & Chocolate" by Klause and "New Moon" by Meyer.
I think what one of our readers meant by a "realistic" vampire book (it does sound a little ironic), is that the rest of the book is realistic--set in a certain time period, realistic in details to that time period, and the like. Not a Buffy the Vampire slayer with all the other monsters and fantasy type stuff. Anne Rice books are what I term historical fiction vampires that are realistic--she has paid great attention to detail, to historical accuracy, etc. I prefer this type of vampire book as well--that is why I love The Silver Kiss--the characters, even the teen vampire, are so real, they could be your neighbors. Have any of you read the M.T. Anderson book Thirsty?
