This isn't a new one, but one enjoyed by several readers here: A Great and Terrible Beauty. This is a blend of historical fiction, parallel worlds, and fantasy. It comes highly recommended by several student readers! Adult readers will enjoy this as well!
We also have the sequel, Rebel Angels. It is currently checked out, but should be available after Christmas!
Yet another recommendation comes from a student this morning--a new book we that just hit our shelves last week--Wintersmith, by Terri Pratchett! (Can you tell the Library Goddess has learned to add pictures to the blog?)
Now for a list of other new books! Many of these have been requested by students--I can honor requests as long as my money holds out!
For those who love books that make them cry: read Sold by Patricia McCormick. This is a novel set in Nepal, that will make you think about our sisters in other countries, and the conditions others survive on a daily basis.
We've recently added:
Mixed magics by Diana Wynne Jones
Fade to Black by Alex Flinn
Bedlam's Edge byMercedes Lackey
A Gesture Life by Chang-rae Lee
The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl by Barry Lyga
Autumn Bridge by Takas Matsuoka
And another I just have to post the picture of: Ophelia by Lisa Klein . This is also highly recommended by one of our student readers. This is a fresh take on the Hamlet story as told by Ophelia--you don't have to know Hamlet to enjoy this riveting tale.
